For years I’ve been wondering, what’s this term EDM?

Yes, I’ve always known that it stands for “electronic dance music”, but where did it come from? It felt like suddenly the term was everywhere, and all the music out there was now called EDM.

Apparently the term “was being pushed by the American music industry and music press in an effort to rebrand American rave culture.”

A-ha, that explains it.

“Rebranding”. What an awful word. Even more disgusting than “constipation” or “pop quiz”.

Or “branding”. Shivers.
