Bananas.

Bananas. They’re great, aren’t they?

They look fun, they are compact, consuming them require to tools and I believe they are among the most popular fruits on earth!

The taste is also great, but the texture of a banana, that’s a more complicated matter.

More raw bananas have great texture. It’s pretty solid, it feels like proper food in your mouth. But the taste of these greenish buggers, well, it can be less than wonderful.

Very ripe bananas on the other hand, taste always the best, but their texture may often be too smushy.

In my experience, the time window when bananas are just perfect is no longer than, let’s say 36 hours. This makes buying & eating bananas a very scientific process. You gotta plan your eatings well ahead and never buy more than a couple of days worth at the time.

Funfact of the day: If do remove the letter “b” from the word “bananas”, you get “ananas”. Weird, huh?

But hey, what has bananas got to do with PHILINGS, you may ask?

Nothing man. Absolutely nothing.

December calls for some December music.

Ok, here’s some Festivus themed music from all of me, to all of you: HEARTFELT.

Yeah, I know, it’s once again a very traditional western one… I promise, one year I shall produce something mind-blowing, something that’s never been heard before. Like, a christmas rock ‘n roll song! Or a bitter-sweet christmas synth-pop-piece of love! Or a heavy metal tune about not getting any presents!

Whaddya know, Festivus has a Wikipedia page. So, go ahead folks and learn about the true holiday spirit!

For the rest of us, merry December!

7 shorts of Dr. Lao.

Yes, it’s on! Time for some shorty shorts! 2nd litter of the year can naturally be found in SHORTS.

“Branching paths” weighs it’s options very carefully. Nonetheless, the result will be undecided. Small woodwind line-up in the starring role.

“Redend II the palindrome” is an enhanced version of a tune I made earlier. I’m sure the title explains itself. Symmetry for the win! Lars, pls.

“Flummoxed” is not much more than a synthesizer loop with a minimalistic melody.

Hmm, now that I think about it, I guess this was the “Shorts, the puzzling edition”.

Coming up the next week: Well, you know.

Retexted.

The Yamaha DX7 was one of the most popular synthesizers of the ’80s. I guess it’s safe to say so without sounding like an ad, because they stopped manufacturing these things in 1989.

DEXTER was produced using only DX7 emulators. That’s why the title. So it has nothing to do with the TV series or Dexter Gordon.

Pretty nasty sounds, eh?

By the way, what’s the plural of the word “series”?

Serieses? Seriei? Serises’ui? Seriendenum?

Whaddya know, the word “series” is both singular and plural. Thanks Mr. Google!

Motivational.

“Day off from loneliness” is the kind of a tune, that’s really hard to describe. Therefore, what I’m doing here, is telling you what it is not.

It’s not very melodic and it has no beat, it just floats there. It moves around so slowly, that one might not even notice it. It doesn’t belong in any specific style. Other than maybe some sub-genre of new age music.

So, maybe it’s “new age muzak for your daily relaxational needs”?

Hey, that’s pretty good.

Let me start over.

Ahem, your friendly neighbourhood kongano proudly presents: DAY OFF FROM LONELINESS, a masterpiece of new age muzak for your daily relaxational needs.

Try, and you shall succeed!

The scary birthday update.

Yesterday was konganos fifth birthday. Yay, yeah! This year I couldn’t spare the time to make an extra tune. Sorry. Busy me is busy.

Halloween is slowly creeping in, so here’s the very official scary tune of the season: LORD LO BRO HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

It’s like LoFi music for a show about scary castles, mad scientist & teenage atomic zombies, directed by Ed Wood.

I’m off to watch “Bride of the Monster”.

Spark of inspiration was hopping near the garbage bins.

Some time ago there was a morning I had serious problems with my musical ignition. I just couldn’t make the decision of what to do.

Should I go orchestral, acoustic, guitar-stuff or electronic? What genre shall I conquer next? How do I feel right now?

I knew I wanted to make something from scratch. I have a cubic metre of A4s filled with musical notes, but I didn’t feel browsing through them.

Then I took out the trash. Literally.

On my way back in, I stopped to watch some house sparrows. Funny little guys. Hopping there, looking for food.

Eureka!

LE MOINEAU A LA BOUFFE was composed and recorded basically in one (long) sitting. Living is easy when you know exactly what to do.

Thanks sparrow guys!

It’s.

HYPE builds up slow. When you expect it to explode into your consciousness, it disappears for a brief moment only to come back almost instantly.

Then it really starts to build up slowly.

Hype promises a lot and when you start to get impatient it doubles down the promises, and keeps you hooked.

When Hype finally reveals its hand, you realise the awful truth: Hype is the dealer in game where it makes up all the rules, and where it is always the only winner.

Hype is a big jerk.

Nobody attends the funeral of the Hype.

Combo mambo.

Unbalanced & amusing combo. Perhaps one I’ve never used before.

Yeah, gimme that.

No need to feature every section of the orchestra. No need to cover every frequency imaginable. Some stones may be left unturned.

For now.

Another one of those, that I like to call orchestral comical entertainment music: FUNNY FANNY.

It is played on a windy day by a tapir, a mackerel, two parrots and a colony of chinchillidae, all living in peace and harmony in a tropical island, and the surrounding waters.
