Dangers of exercise.

I just put OPEN KARDEMUMMA on, and started to do sit-ups. At the same time I was supposed to think, what to write concerning the tune.

Well, the music made me laugh and that set of sit-ups was ruined.

So, the tune is no good for everyday feats of strength.

Next I’m gonna try the tune with cooking.

Note to self: Make music to accompany sit-ups.

Here’s funk.

Guess who quite recently listened a lot of James Brown?

That’s right, millions and billions of music enthusiasts all over the known galaxy, including me.

Jamesy sure is one of the fellows who has his place on the mantle piece, next to Plato and Curie, but who doesn’t seem to visit my record player very often.

Hmm, maybe some artists you just take too much for granted, without actually stopping to listen ’em.

Who else am I missing?

What about authors, books, movies?

I wouldn’t worry about TV-shows. My friends seem to always know, which shows I absolutely must watch right now.

Adding stuff for my to do list: Don Quixote, the book (+ the movie when it finally comes out) and Gone with the Wind, the movie. And billions & billions of TV and Netflix shows I should absolutely see. Immediately!

And that – boys and girls – is how assosiating furiously is like.

To get back on the track: SATURATED FUNK.

Ode to mellotron.

Oh I like mellotron.

Who doesn’t like mellotron? Point out that kind of person and show me a clear path for him/her and I swear, I’ll think about heading that way, and end up going home while shaking my head in disbelief.

It’s just the combination of class & playfulness… Poison and cure in a same box… Hair Metal & New Wave side by side…

Did you know that professional musicians (especially brass, woodwind & string instrument players) feared for their jobs when these early synthesizers first came out. That’s silly, ‘cos the string bank in mellotron, doesn’t exactly sound like a bunch of guys and gals playing violins and whatnot. It sounds cool, but not “real”.

So, mellotron is also a very polite instrument.

Did I mention, I like mellotron.

HAZY‘s got two of ’em. The second one is on hold if the first one breaks.

I think our number is six.

“Shorts are best and the old shorts when really short are best of all.”

– Chin-Witch Sunroll

“Tude Taire” is pretty standard solo piano piece. It’s got sorrow, yearning, tears and all the good stuff. It’s also pretty pretty.

I had the idea to tamper with the former tune, and “Taire Tude” is the result. Yeah, a little word play there. This one’s way happier. You gotta have some balance. And it was fairly simple job.

“Lone wolf” is some tough fella. You don’t wanna mess with him. In here, he is represented by delicious chiptune sounds. Bring it on!

And yes, to hear these pieces, all you need to do is to go to SHORTS.

No need to light.

Some dark & twisted dance music to spice up the mondiest of mondays: SINNERS REPRISE.

Now, hey now! This one’s been sitting on my hard drive for several months now. So, can you guess what classic dance music act I listened around last october, with great nostalgia and enthusiasm?

Yeah, that’s right.

Numbers.

Good day.

Todays compilation of smells & sounds is called OPUS 269. “Opus” refers to the fact that the piece in question is an individual work of art, separate of all the other tunes out there.

“269” tells you the number of these individual works of art I’ve produced with kongano in mind.

Neat.

I’ll let you know when we hit 513.

Early birdy no hurdy-gurdy.

Yes, we’re early because why not.

Dang it’s cold outside. And because I’m living in an apartment where the windows have been renovated in the 1930s, it’s pretty chilly indoors as well.

Woolen socks & poncho for the win.

Todays piece of art is called THE SPELL OF ICE. It’s appropriate because of the weather, and because I suppose we all can sometimes channel our positive side in when absolutely necessary.

OBS!

“The following tune is a mix between the dream world and reality…”

“It is well known – yet surprisingly misunderstood – fact, that people are the same wherever…”

“You will know it’s time to turn the page when Bud Spencer rings his little bells like this…”

No, no and once again no! Just use a simple equation that explains it all:

TRICK NRO 16 = Ringo Starr producing childrens music in the Caribbean in 1984.

Giving up a nasty habit.

The people who know me personally, sure know that when it comes to music, I’m a bit of a purist. I like my salty snacks salty, and sweet candy sweet.

Ok, I’ve seen and loved some comical opera. And country music may have some western in it. And flute may also be a heavy metal instrument…

Well, it seems I’m starting to slip. LIKE A POPINJAY OF TODAY is a result of me slipping.

Slip away, me. It’s some great fun.

I guess it’s kind of fusion.

What we’ve got here is a familiar smell, you can’t quite put your finger on.

It’s like really dark (the colour) lime, or more like purplelish orange or not really.

It has traces of Weather Report, gone through the golden age of video games, all the way to this millenium.

CELENTHAL is elvish and means… No I just made it up. But since elvish is also made up, you may define the word yourself.
